1. COURSE/MODULE DESCRIPTION

In this level, we will learn all the vowels in the Tamil language: both written and oral modes will be used. Along with this, we will learn rhymes, stories and spoken language.

2. COURSE/MODULE PREREQUISITES:

None required.

3. COURSE/MODULE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this level the students will be able to:

  • 1. Read all the Tamil vowels.
  • 2. Write all the Tamil vowels.
  • 3. Recite numbers in Tamil up to 10.
  • 4. Recite the Tamil rhymes covered in this level.
  • 5. Recite the stories at least partially in Tamil using the content words.

4. REQUIRED LEARNING MATERIALS / TEXTBOOKS

Textbooks for Mazhalaigal will be provided in the class after the student’s registration.

5. RECOMMENDED LEARNING MATERIALS

Using videos from YouTube to reinforce learning the rhymes is recommended.

a. Must have passed Nilai 1 level

b. If they did not attend Nilai 1 level with this school, the teacher will assess the child to make sure they know enough with basic Tamil communication to be a part of this group.

3. COURSE/MODULE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this level the students will be able to:

  • 1. Read and write all the Tamil letters
  • 2. Recite numbers in Tamil up to 100
  • 3. Recite the Tamil rhymes covered in this level

  • 5. Recite the stories in Tamil using the content words
  • 6. Able to translate the given sentences at this level and write them in Tamil

At the conclusion of this level the students will be able to:

    Reading Students use a wide variety of reading material, includes Tamil magazines, Articles cut out of various Newspapers, Self-help Tamil books for Teens by prominent authors focusing on in-depth comprehension of fiction and nonfiction text. As they read, students use sophisticated levels of higher order thinking, critical reasoning and discussion.
    Writing Students will keep a Writer’s Notebook to develop and improve writing skills. Vocabulary and Grammar skills will be developed and utilized throughout the curriculum.

    5. RECOMMENDED LEARNING MATERIALS

    Handouts compiled by Teachers will be provided. Using videos from You Tube, Regular dip into Tamil children’s e-magazines such as Chutti vikatan, Gokulam helps to improve Reading/writing/Vocabulary skills.
